Woman arrested as detectives crack counterfeit note case

A young woman has been arrested on a string of charges after she allegedly passed counterfeit $50 notes around the southern parts of the Sunshine Coast.

Caloundra detecives investigated multiple offences over several months where the counterfeit notes were allegedly passed at numerous businesses.

Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Daren Edwards said the woman, 31, had admitted to passing the notes and would face court.

Detective Senior Sergeant Edwards said the woman was charged with a fail to appear warrant and five charges of uttering counterfeit money.

The Caloundra woman is expected to appear in the Caloundra Magistrates Court at a later date.
