Wanted in Queensland but nabbed in NSW after car chase

A MAN wanted on warrant by Queensland Police has been arrested and charged following a police pursuit at Tingha near Inverell last night.

Shortly before 7pm on Sunday evening, Inverell police were patrolling Tingha when they allegedly detected a white Nissan Pulsar travelling well above the speed limit.

The Nissan was allegedly being driven at 120km/h in a 60km/h speed limit and when officers attempted to stop the car on Guyra Rd the driver failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

An 18-year-old man was later arrested by police after stopping the car in the middle of the road.

He was taken to Inverell Police Station and charged with drive in a speed/manner dangerous to the public, police pursuit - not stop (Skye's Law), drive unregistered vehicle, drive uninsured vehicle and larceny.

The man was refused bail to appear in Inverell Local Court today (where it is expected Queensland Police will seek his extradition on warrants for property, stealing and traffic offences.
