Motorcyclist dies in horror Coast crash

UPDATE: 6.25AM Monday, July 31

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal crash on the Sunshine Coast.

Just before 10am yesterday a motorcycle was travelling east on Peachester Road.

A four wheel drive travelling in the opposite direction was turning right onto Storrs Road when the two vehicles collided, killing the 61-year-old male motorcyclist.

The driver of the four wheel drive was not physically injured during the crash.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses or people who may have seen the red bike travelling on Peachester Rd prior to this incident to contact them.

UPDATE: 2.55pm Sunday, July 30

POLICE have now confirmed that a man died in a motorcycle accident at Peachester this morning.

And they have confirmed the accident that claimed the 61-year-old's life occurred when his machine, which was travelling east on Peachester Rd just before 10am, was involved in a collision with a four-wheel-drive travelling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Police said the driver of the four-wheel-drive was not physically injured during the crash.

UPDATE: 10.45am Sunday, July 30

PEACHESTER Rd is blocked in both directions as police continue investigations into a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on the corner with Storrs Rd at Peachester this morning.

A police spokesperson said the rider had been left in a serious condition but despite Queensland Ambulance saying a fatality had occurred, police are now not yet prepared to officially declare he has died as investigations continue.

The main road from Peachester to the coast is expected to continue to be blocked for some time.

EARLIER: POLICE and ambulance are on the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident at Peachester this morning.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said it had been called to the scene of the Peachester Road accident at 10am.
