It is time to speak out
THE Daily Examiner is imploring you, the community, to help us.
Whether you blame State Government or Federal Government, the Coalition or Labor, it doesn't matter.
We need to rise above the political games and we need your help to send a message to all tiers of government from all ends of the political spectrum.
Fix the highway - no more excuses.
Over the years, we've printed screaming headlines on the front pages of The Daily Examiner.
Our editors have written scathing pieces in these columns while our journalists have conducted hard-hitting interviews to produce stories to push the cause.
Our photographers have stood at roadside crosses, just metres from the core-shaking, rumbling of trucks, and felt what it's like to be that close to tragedy.
You have shared your stories and your letters, but none of it has been enough.
Some would give up. But I'm proud to say the team here at DEX, a number of whom have driven that road for years, is refusing to do so.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and we have decided to embrace a multi-media offensive.
As well as using our print edition in battle, we are calling in our online cavalry to speak out and tell the politicians excuses are no longer acceptable.
Play the video to see our message to the politicians.
But today we need you to give your voice to our cause.
Please, please stand with us.
Join us this morning (Thursday June 14) at Grafton Shoppingworld (near the newsagency) from 10.30am-12.30pm where photographer Adam Hourigan will record short messages appealing for action.
Those who can't join us can record their own video message at home and email it to email@example.com , send it as an MMS to 0417 690 637 or come by the DEX office and we will record you.
