LCCA CRICKET: Cricket action is back this weekend, with Harwood looking to get their season back on track when they take on Iluka at Iluka Oval this weekend.
Harwood captain Dane Mitchell said he expected a tough clash against Iluka, who are currently sitting second on the LCCA competition ladder after eight matches.
Making the assignment even harder will be the number of players missing from the Harwood roster through injury, holidays and work commitments.
Harwood will be without opener Geoff Simmons and bowler Peter Timms, while Matt Young is facing a considerable length of time on the sidelines after breaking his ribs in Premier League before Christmas.
"Iluka are a good team, and they're hard to beat at the best of times, but I'm sure they're in a similar position as us,” Mitchell said.
"We will be missing some star players, and there's a few more missing too with work, so we'll see how we go.
"We've still got a decent side and if we play well I'm sure we'll do alright, we just need to field well and bowl well.”
The two sides last met in round seven, with Iluka claiming bragging rights after chasing down Harwood's total of 190, scoring the winning runs in the last over of the match.
Mitchell said his team would need to improve on that performance, especially with their fielding, if they're to come away with a win.
"It's important we start 2018 right,” he said.
With the first half of the LCCA season heavily influenced by a series of wash-outs, Harwood currently find themselves sitting fourth on the LCCA competition ladder.
Mitchell said it was hard to get a gauge of the competition after such a stop-start season so far.
"You're only as good as the results you achieve, and I feel that we can certainly beat anyone on our day,” he said.
"We've only completed five games to date, and we started poorly and lost the first two games then won the last two of the year.”
