Grafton High School sport centre to go ahead
THE Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis and Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli yesterday announced that additional funding from the Department of Education and Communities will secure a new sports centre for Grafton High School.
"For a number of years the school community raised funds for the construction of this new facility and I'm glad the Government can support the school with these additional funds so the project can now begin," Mr Piccoli said.
"I would particularly like to congratulate the P&C on their perseverance in raising funds towards the construction."
Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis welcomed the additional investment.
"I am confident that the new facilities will provide exceptional opportunities for students at Grafton High School, which already has a very proud sporting tradition and has seen many of its former students succeed as professionals," Mr Gulaptis said.
"The building will support the school's general sporting curriculum and VET Sports Studies.
"There will also be good opportunities for local sports and other groups to use the building and facilities, further strengthening the important ties between the school and the community."
The building will be 1000 square metres, consisting of a full size netball court and annex for a gymnasium, with full disability access.
