High hopes for Grafton carols
ORGANISERS of the 2010 Carols in the Square are hoping crowds will flock to celebrate the festive season.
Pastor Greg Holder, of the Riverside Church in South Grafton, is the main organiser of the event and was hopeful he would see about 1000 smiling and singing faces on Friday night.
“The Clarence Valley Ministers Association and Clarence Valley Council are putting the event on. Last year, we had about 300 people. This year we are hoping that attendance triples,” Pastor Holder said.
“We are hoping that the event grows and grows in coming years.”
Having spent the past six months ironing out the details, Pastor Holder was insistent the event would please a range of people and would create a great family night out.
“I am really happy with the kids' stuff we have. There will be a real kids carnival atmosphere with Healthy Harold making an appearance as well as Disney characters and of course Santa,” he said. “We also have a few kids' carols to kick the night off, which are a lot of fun.”
Hoping to continue that fun atmosphere into the night, Pastor Holder said there would be plenty of lights, energy and fun as the sun went down.
“We are really hoping families make a real go of it by grabbing their picnic blanket, the mozzie repellent and of course, the kids and make their way out to celebrate Christmas.”
