Court gives Happy Paws until August to fix issues

HAPPY Paws Haven has been granted a three-month stay of execution.

Owner Sally Rogers's case for an extension was aired at a Land and Environment Court extension hearing conducted over the phone yesterday.

Despite a two week adjournment sought by Clarence Valley Council, the court ruled in favour of Ms Rogers.

The final deadline for the no-kill animal rehoming shelter to complete court-ordered requirements to minimise noise and improve shelter materials is now August 14.

Ms Rogers said the Eatonsville shelter hoped to raise the remaining $6000 it needed by mid-June.

"I'm relieved. It gives us the time we need to finish," she said.

"We don't have any other choice (but to finish it by August).

"We will not be able to go back for another go."
