Truck drops 300 litres of oil, highway closed
UPDATE 10.19am: FIRE and Rescue NSW responded to two incidents near Lismore this morning.
A spokesman said a truck dropped 300 litres of oil over 500 metres on the Bruxner highway between Elliott Road and Snow Street.
He said two crews and a Hazmat team responded to the incident and clean up is currently underway.
The northbound lane of the Bruxner Highway is closed. There are traffic queues stretching back to the Home Consortium building.
Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service also attended a ute rollover at South Gundurimba.
The spokesman said a person was removed from the single vehicle accident and transported to hospital.
The vehicle has been recovered and the highway reopened at that location.
Original story: THE Bruxner Highway has been closed at two locations in South Lismore and South Gundurimba.
A significant oil spill in South Lismore has closed the northbound lane of the Bruxner Highway between Cook Street and the highway in South Lismore.
Lismore City Council crews are on scene to clean up the spill.
Local diversions are in place via Three Chain Road, East Street, Wilson Street and Elliott Road.
Crews are also responding to a ute rollover on the Bruxner Highway at South Gundurimba near Parrots Nest Road.
NSW Traffic spokeswoman said everyone is out of the ute, but the highway is closed in both directions while the ute is retrieved.
